You should report the loss of your passport to the following authority:
Budapest and Pest County Directorate of the Office for Immigration and
Citizenship. If your passport is stolen, you must report the loss to the local district police headquarters. It's easy to lose your passport, but getting a replacement is expensive and time-consuming. You need to carry ID here, but use your photo driving licence and lock your passport in your hotel safe.
